Readers: See the article attached, The Inequality Myth - WSJ.com. An amazing editorial. The “Ticket Line” analogy was perhaps the most appealing explanation of the situation. In this election season, the Democratic candidates want to paint this woeful picture that the poor remain year-over-year in a group of the perpetually destitute.

That’s simply hogwash. Most of the cab drivers and others in not-so-well-paying service industries I speak with are taking classes in skilled industries, such as electronics and technology, and they, too, in a couple years, will jump into the next bracket.

Unfortunately, since the median rarely shifts (roughly the same number of people remain in this group year over year, and  despite the shifting into and out of it), most people don’t read into the numbers, and regular people assume that the poor always will remain poor. This article disproves this theory as stating that people are always moving into and out of this medium.

Moreover, could you honestly imagine the “dream” of Hillary to make everyone earn the same through income redistribution? For Pete’s sake, there would be no incentives! Who would want to work when your better ideas or harder work produce the same salary as a fry cook?

We all have our place in life. Courage and intelligence prompt more gifted people to work even harder and make the world just that much better (including themselves and their families). It’s capitalism at work. The hardest working shall be rewarded more than those who don’t produce as much. The person with the most new and exciting idea will reap the benefits of being there first. Investors who place money at risk should pay little, if any, taxes on the capital gains they receive. The easiest way to grow this process and make it fair for everyone is to allow these incentives to remain.

I welcome thoughts and opinions on this topic and the editorial.

Ah, the Super Bowl. XLII, to be exact. Had the Pats one, this would have been the most momentous sporting accomplishment in a generation (at least in football). Well, they came close, except Plaxico Burress had to miraculously get better all of a sudden, after a woeful fantasy football year, and catch a game-winning reception. In any event, Russell Crowe narrated one a beautiful video montage, paying homage to the State of Perfection, the Patriots, and oh yeah, the Giants also kind of want to win. Video Editors and fans of Steven Jablonsky soundtracks (or Russell Crowe) will also dig this. The seamless video gave me chills…though, so did Plaxico’s sharp eyes in the fourth quarter. Enjoy!

Rap Snacks

Now, hear me out, readers:

The area adjacent to my house happens to be subsidized housing. Invariably, every so often garbage blows over a couple blocks and lands on our doorstep (shocker). Typically, it’s something mundane, like a Snicker’s wrapper, or an empty bag of Funyuns. Not today, though. Today, Kim and I located a bag of Rap Snacks(tm) brand (I swear I am not making this up) Bar-b-quin’ with my Honey Flavored Chips. Note the adjacent scan I made of the bag, and help me perform some analysis of the marketing…More after the Jump. (more…)

My friends: After a long week of travel, I was looking forward to a laid-back Friday night ritual, where Kim and I would sit in front of the tube and watch…The Tube. Sadly, I punched in channel 207 and received the symbols ‘???’ on the screen. Inexplicably, I must have punched in the wrong channel combination. Nope.

The Tube has been taken off the air, forever.

More after the jump. (more…)

Facebook Photo

So, I decided to join Facebook at the suggestion of my favorite ex-roommate, and frequent commenter on my site, Pat Ring. In less than three days, I have…

Yes, this is a killer waste of time, and a lot of fun to catch up with people instantaneously. It could very well be that this is how we will communicate in the future! After all, it’s instantaeous, centrally maintained, and open-ended.

Later, peeps.

The legend of beer reviews, Michael Jackson (the British writer and repudiated beer lover, not as famous as the other Michael Jackson) has passed away. Drink a beer in his honor.

A great post from Hall of Beers is listed here.

This is the worst YouTube clip in existence. Blood will come out of your ears when you listen to this terrible answer from contestant Miss Teen South Carolina. If anyone needs me, I will be moving to Europe.

There I was at Wall Township Speedway in exotic New Jersey. A beautiful Saturday morning to race wee little cars, dubbed “Legends.” It was a fun day–except for the fact that I had absolutely the slowest lap in the entire group. These cars can run quarter-mile lap in, oh, about 14 seconds at their fastest. Sadly, I cranked my first set of laps out in 23 seconds. Oh, and that was my best time. But, wait, the engine sounded like the world was coming to an end. Whoops–I was stuck in third. That tell-tale tachometer like we see in Days of Thunder? They exist. I had a 1200cc motorcycle engine up to 1100 RPM. Yeah buddy. My next go ’round, I was in fourth, but jittery after a friend (whose name will remain unmentioned) hit the wall. 29 seconds was my best time.

I’ll stick to running–I may be almost as fast on foot.

Shockwave the Decepticon always had the toughest job–getting the crappiest tasks and being a bad shot means a lot of laughs when Dr. Smoov re-edits them on YouTube. Enjoy.

P.S., if you don’t enjoy, you are clearly not a child of the 80’s.

My friends:

What a wild ride in this past week’s markets. Right after celebrating a 174% gain in CRNT options, I rode CSCO’s 32.5 SEP call into the ground. Dumped them in a jittery panic about the diminishing time value, but hey.

I did buy CRNT again this afternoon following a hectic day. She’s almost at her strike price again!
