There I was at Wall Township Speedway in exotic New Jersey. A beautiful Saturday morning to race wee little cars, dubbed “Legends.” It was a fun day–except for the fact that I had absolutely the slowest lap in the entire group. These cars can run quarter-mile lap in, oh, about 14 seconds at their fastest. Sadly, I cranked my first set of laps out in 23 seconds. Oh, and that was my best time. But, wait, the engine sounded like the world was coming to an end. Whoops–I was stuck in third. That tell-tale tachometer like we see in Days of Thunder? They exist. I had a 1200cc motorcycle engine up to 1100 RPM. Yeah buddy. My next go ’round, I was in fourth, but jittery after a friend (whose name will remain unmentioned) hit the wall. 29 seconds was my best time.

I’ll stick to running–I may be almost as fast on foot.
